It Could Be Christmas

Buddy Winston: guitar

If you could recapture the sound of a chime
That rang from a steeple in a far distant time
And lingered a moment in the wintery haze
Then it could be Christmas in so many ways

If you could breathe life into old memories
The glint of the tinsel, the scent of the tree
The gleam of the moonlight on a blanket of snow
Then it could be Christmas wherever you go

The warmth and the light of the crackling yule fire
Cast long, dancing shadows that seem to aspire
To a scene reminiscent of Currier & Ives
Where it could be Christmas all the days of our lives

If we could gather together once more
The near and the dear ones who've gone on before
Our hearts would be gladdened their faces to see
And it could be Christmas like it used to be

If you could treat others as you'd have them treat you
And sing the old carols as if they were new
And tell the old Story, never changing a word
Then it could be Christmas wherever it's heard

If the tune sounds familiar, it's because I borrowed it from Hank Snow's "Brand On My Heart."
